35th Pori Jazz Kendo Seminar – July 16-19, 2026

The traditional summer seminar will be held for the 35th time! The seminar is open to all kendo practitioners. Participants of all levels are welcome to join the training sessions – including those who practice without bogu.
This year, the seminar returns to its original timing in July, during the Pori Jazz Festival. July offers many great reasons to head to Pori!
After the seminar gradings will be organised from 6 – 1 Kyu and 1 – 4 Dan.

Registration
Register for the seminar by 12th July 2026.
Option A (preferable method)
Register or sign-in on Suomisport.fi and check that your information is up-to-date. Also for all FKA members, please check your FKA license and insurance validity.
Option B (for foreign/”non-FKA” participants. If suitable, please use option A.)

- Full name?
- Adult? Junior (age)?
- Your level or grade?

- Dojo accommodation needed? If yes, which days?

Grading examinations
Kyu and dan grading examinations will be organized at the seminar. (6 – 1 Kyu and 1 – 4 Dan)

Registration for dan gradings have to be made through your own federation in the European Kendo Federation register. The registration is binding. You should pay the exam fee(s) through bank transfer with the following information:

The fees are standard European Kendo Federation prices:
For application:
- 1 Dan 15 €
- 2 Dan 20 €

In case of successful examination, additional registration fee:
- 1 Dan 20 €
- 2 Dan 30 €
- 3 Dan 50 €
- 4 Dan 70 €

Porin Urheilutalo, Kuninkaanhaanaukio 12, Pori
Entrance to Porin Urheilutalo (Pori Sports Hall) from the lower door on the north side. (Not through the main entrance.)
Fees
Whole seminar (Thu-Sun): 80 €
Per day (Fri, Sat or Sun): 35 € / day
Junior’s guardian (Thu-Sun): 15 € (only if accommodation at PoriDojo)
Participation in the seminar is paid during registration on Suomisport. Dojo accommodation at PoriDojo is included in the seminar fee for seminar participants. Meals are at your own expense and not arranged by seminar organisation.
For foreign visitors: If you can’t use Suomisport for registration/payments, seminar fee is to be paid to the office on arrival at the Porin Urheilutalo (Sports Hall). The preferred method of payment is with debit/credit card or Mobilepay/Vipps but cash is also accepted.
Accommodation
Poridojo, Satakunnankatu 32, 28130 Pori
The seminar fees include the possibility of dojo accommodation at Poridojo. There is a fridge and microwave, as well as kettles and coffee makers. Men’s sauna and women’s sauna are available. Be sure to bring your own bedding (e.g. sleeping bag and mattress).

In addition to hotels, there are about a hundred airbnb accommodations in Pori, about half of which are close to the town center.
Note! Hotels in Pori will be full of Pori Jazz Festival visitors, so make sure to book your stay in time!
Dining
Pori Kendo Club does not organise any meals and they are not included in the fees.
