Pori summer camp June 16-19, 2022

The traditional Pori Summer Camp is being held for the 31st time! The main teachers this year are Claude Pruvost from France and our top Finnish and Swedish teachers!

The camp is open to all kendo and sports chanbara practitioners. Kendo training is open to people of all levels, including those without a bogu. Sports chanbara exercises are also suitable for everyone. Come and pick up training tips for the rest of the year with you!

Information for dan examination participants who are not members of the Finnish Kendo Association.
Registration for dan-gradings have to be made through your own federation in the European Kendo Federation register. The registration is binding. You can pay the exam application fee by cash on site or through bank transfer with the following information:

The fees are standard European Kendo Federation prices.
For application: 1 Dan € 15,00; 2 Dan € 20,00; 3 Dan € 30,00; 4 Dan € 50,00; 5 Dan € 70,00.
In case of successful examination, registration fee: 1 Dan € 20,00; 2 Dan € 30,00; 3 Dan € 50,00; 4 Dan € 70,00; 5 Dan € 100,00.

Camp fees

Entire camp (Thu-Sun): 70 €
One day only (Fri, Sat, Sun): 35 €
Junior’s guardian’s (Thu-Sun): 15 € (only if accomodation at dojo)

Participation in the camp is paid during registration at Suomisport. Hall accommodation at PoriDojo and Yyteri beach sauna are included in the camp price. Meals and Huikee’s activities are at your own expense and are paid for on site. Participation in the graduation is paid during registration in Suomisport.

For foreign visitors: camp fee is paid to the camp office on arrival at the Porin Urheilutalo (Sports Hall). The preferred method of payment is Mobilepay but cash is also accepted.


The camp fees include the possibility of dojo accommodation in Poridojo (Satakunnankatu 32, 28130 Pori). There is a fridge and microwave, as well as kettles and coffee makers. Men’s and women’s saunas are available. Be sure to bring your own bedding (sleeping bag and mattress).

As an affordable alternative to dojo accommodation, Pori kendo club has negotiated special prices with Original Sokos Hotel Vaakuna which is in the center of Pori, about 20 minutes walking (1,5 km) from both the Urheilutalo and PoriDojo

In addition to the hotels, there are almost a hundred airbnb accomodations in Pori, about half of which are close to the city center.

Note! There are a lot of other events in Pori area for the camp weekend, so make sure to book your stay in time!


Pori kendo club does not organize any camp meals and they are not included in the camp fees. However, there are lunch places near the camp site. For guests staying in Hotel Vaakuna breakfast is included in the room price. On Friday and Saturday evenings you can barbeque your own food and snacks at Poridojo and Yyteri.

Active afternoon in Yyteri

Yyteri Beach and Adventure Park Huikee on Saturday from 14:00 to 21:00

On Saturday there will be an active afternoon around Yyteri Beach Resort! In addition to guided sports and step training, it is possible to get acquainted with the diverse sports and outdoor opportunities in the dune area on your own. For the evening, a beach sauna and a barbecue are reserved for a nice evening. Address: Hiekkarannantie 189, 28800 Pori



You should not come to the camp if there are any symptoms suggestive of the disease. If a person living in the same household has had symptoms of a respiratory infection or has had a respiratory infection just prior to camp, it is recommended that they withdraw from camp. The best way to protect those in the camp is to prevent those exposed to the disease from attending the camp..
